What is a block print?
Block printing is a printmaking technique that involves carving a block of dense material like wood or linoleum, rolling ink over the remaining raised surfaces and pressing paper onto it to transfer the image. The end result is an original print, with its own character and imperfections. The carving and printing process is tedious with little room for error, but that makes the final print that much more satisfying. For those who like to work with paper, printmaking is where we find the “adrenaline junkie” in us.
